The Customer
The Customer is the fastest-growing county in the Southwest United States, with nearly 100,000 residents.
The Challenge
The Customer, who was responsible for safeguarding the County’s more than 125 TB of data, was very unhappy with their current supplier. They had renewed their contract with their current supplier only six months prior and had just been notified that, notwithstanding that renewal, their costs would increase by almost 50%.
In addition, the Customer had recently learned of new mandates from the County Attorney’s office, which would substantially increase the retention time on specific systems and, thus, further increase storage needs and overall costs. For guidance, they turned to their trusted Technology Advisor.
The Solution
The Technology Advisor worked with a Solutions Engineer from their Technology Service Distributor to provide SDV with the relevant background needed to address the Customer’s needs holistically and was confident in SDV’s ability to deliver an all-encompassing solution aligned with the County’s budget and timeline.
During several in-depth Discovery Calls, SDV’s team of engineers assessed the Customer’s production environment and current data protection and recovery strategy. SDV collaborated with the Customer to classify server by server, which systems were mission-critical and required Disaster Recovery and which systems were better suited for BaaS.
Since the Customer already utilized Veeam for backups, SDV, as a Veeam Service Provider, proposed a comprehensive managed BaaS and DRaaS solution leveraging Veeam technology and worked with the Customer to determine the appropriate recovery points.
The SDV team supported the Customer as they navigated the budget approval process and accommodated their compressed timeline.
