Make Plans Now: Network and Software Reaching “End of Life”

The start of the new year is a good time to look ahead and make necessary plans as network and software reaches end of general support or “end of life” with the manufacturer. We have identified two and we are working diligently with customers to prepare. You may want to prepare yourself and your network as well. These include:

VMWare ESXi 6.5 and 6.7 – Both reached end of general support with VMWare on October 15, 2022. Along with no longer supporting these versions, VMWare is no longer writing patches for security and other vulnerabilities that are found on those versions. This makes VMWare ESXi 6.5 and 6.7 a prime target for bad actors and is something we are addressing immediately with our customers.

Microsoft 2012 R2 – This Microsoft OS was launched back in November of 2013 and Microsoft has announced that the end date for support will be on October 10, 2023.  Again, this means that support and security patching will no longer be available. Now is a great time to start planning for upgrading and making sure you are running on the best OS platform for your organization.

If you have either of these scenarios in your network and are not sure how best to address, please contact support@skydatavault.com and we can review options.
